Aleksei Chmura is the Program Coordinator for the Consortium for Conservation Medicine at Wildlife Trust, New York. He received his BS in Environmental Biology from Columbia University. For four summers he has worked in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brasil, teaching north and south american college students tropical field ecology, earth science, conservation biology, and how to approach life critically.In 2003, Aleksei worked with the Consortium for Conservation Medicine in peninsular Malaysia detailing the modes of transmission of Nipah Virus by trapping and sampling flying foxes and interviewing local hunters. In addition to his duties at the Consortium for Conservation Medicine, he endeavours daily to reduce his ecological "footprint."
